Session 10: Just the right words

This class looks at three technical aspects of language: the narrator's relation to the story, vocabulary and tone and how to utilise these in order to choose the rights words to craft a really superb story. We will be looking at how these elements are used in a variety of published texts (including poetry, plays and novels) as well as how to make the most of them when writing your own novel.

Session 9: Every character has a story

Again, drawing on the material covered in a previous class, this session looks at how plot impacts character and characters drive plot. This involves drawing out the role played by each character, based on their individual traits and agenda, and how these intertwine to strengthen the central storyline and drive the narrative to its conclusion.
